Browser repeat events are counted as normal hold information. Blur or hidden-tab cleanup clears live state without creating a failed release result.
Hands-off comparison
Separate observation from explanation
Start the hands-off observation, then leave the keyboard untouched. If an event appears, the page can report that unexpected input was observed. It cannot determine why the input occurred.
Repeat the observation and note whether the same physical key, a modifier, or different keys appear.
A tab or window change clears held state and interrupts the observation rather than creating a missing-release warning.
Possible sources
Unexpected input can begin in hardware or software
Browser events cannot distinguish these causes by themselves.
Physical or connection behavior
A held switch, debris or liquid exposure, keyboard firmware, Bluetooth state, battery condition, or an unstable connection can affect the input stream. Follow manufacturer guidance rather than opening powered equipment.
Software-generated behavior
Macros, remapping utilities, remote-control software, application shortcuts, and accessibility features can create symptoms that look like automatic input.
Browser event limitations
Focus changes, reserved shortcuts, and missed release events can make the page's current state differ from the keyboard's physical state. This tool does not diagnose malware or security problems.
Modifier behavior
Check Sticky Keys and accessibility settings
If Shift, Ctrl, or Alt seems to remain active, review the operating system's accessibility features as well as remapping or shortcut utilities. Sticky Keys can intentionally keep a modifier active without a physically held switch. The live panel shows left and right modifier events where the browser reports them.
If keys appear randomly
Use a controlled troubleshooting sequence
Retest after each change instead of changing everything at once.

Privacy and limits
No background keyboard monitoring
The tool listens only while this page is open. Current holds, repeat counts, durations, and guided attempts stay in temporary memory. Observed browser input is not proof of a stuck switch, damaged circuit, virus, or other specific cause.
