Normal repeat behavior
Most systems generate repeated keydown events while Space is held. Those repeats can scroll or activate an application action, but they do not represent separate physical presses here.
Space key diagnostic
Check whether physical Space presses reach the browser, compare normal taps with intentional holds, and screen for suspicious duplicate patterns without treating repeat events as extra presses.
How to use it
Use Press test for normal, fully released taps. Use Hold test when you intentionally want to see duration and browser repeat events. A long hold is not a failure, and held-key repeats are excluded from duplicate-pattern counting.
Understanding Space input
The tool listens only for physical Space events. It records completed cycles, duration, repeat information, and the same conservative chatter sequence used by the dedicated Chatter Test.

Duplicate input can originate in switch behavior, firmware, macros, remapping tools, application handling, or connection interruptions. Compare the observation elsewhere before considering service.
A game or application may use different bindings, focus rules, accessibility settings, or input APIs. Confirm its Space binding and temporarily pause remapping utilities where safe.
Stabilizers, keycaps, switch construction, and firmware can influence feel or registration. Follow manufacturer cleaning and service guidance rather than giving powered hardware an unsafe repair.
Laptop Spacebars use device-specific mechanisms and may respond differently across their width. Test several normal presses, but do not pry or disassemble the key based on a browser result.
Timing depends on browser scheduling and cannot identify a physical cause. Session values remain in temporary React memory and are not uploaded or stored.
Safe comparisons
Retry normal press-and-release cycles.
Compare another browser and application binding.
Reconnect an external keyboard and pause remapping tools.
Test another computer and follow manufacturer guidance.
